Nwanji Ogechukwu Henrietta is young, and quite talented. She speaks to Elora’s Blog in this interview.

Please introduce yourself?

My name is Nwanji Ogechukwu Henrietta, aka “The Coconut Prof”. Founder, Hetty Coconut World. Am a graduate of Computer Science from the University of Port Harcourt. I hail from Oko – Amakom in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.

You’re an Entrepreneur, what’s your line of business?

I operate a coconut business. We produce edible and non edible products from coconut.

Our edible products are coconut oil, coconut flour, coconut candy and coconut chips

Our non-edible products involve recycling of coconut shells to make fashion accessories such as neck pieces, bracelets, wristbands; home wares, key holders and learning materials for kids.

What inspired you to start up your business?

Even though I have always love eating coconuts, I never pictured myself to start up a business with it. Heard about coconut oil in 2017 from my hair stylist and I did a lot of research, I discovered that there are untapped potentials in coconut so I decided to explore it.

How were you able to raise fund for your business?

I started my business with my #1,000 and from there I got support from my family.

How do you advertise your business?

I leverage on both online and offline for advertising of my business. Share my coconut stories on social media mostly Facebook and Instagram and also do one on one advertisement.

What are the challenges you’ve faced while running your business?

One of the challenges I face is ignorance of people about the benefits of coconut but I don’t see it as challenge rather a blessing to me.

Been my own boss has been challenging. I have to work round the clock to satisfy my clients. The saying as your own boss, you work whenever you want to work is a lie, order or no order from clients, you must always been working to improve yourself so as to be the best.

Has it been financially rewarding?

Yes, it has been financially rewarding.

Where do you see brand in 5 years?

I see myself and my business being a big brand in and outside Nigeria in 5 years.
