Theresa Usen is a versatile business woman, her late mum inspired her to start up her business. she speaks to Elora’s Blog in this interview.

Please tell us about your background?
My name is Theresa utibe Usen from mkpat enin LGA in Akwa Ibom state,The third of four children God gave to Godwin and Mabel Usen, I was born on the 2nd of may 1992,a final year student of the department of sociology and anthropology University of uyo.i am by God’s grace the Ceo of Quibilah.

You are Entrepreneur, what’s your line of business?
Quibilah is a multi faceted enterprise we are into event planning , fashion and skincare products.

What inspired you to start up your business?
The business I ventured into was coconut oil production. I felt like eating noodles and mum made beans I don’t eat beans because I don’t like it so I told her and mum said ‘go and buy noodles with your money’ then I went to the market with a pocket money I had bought coconut and started making oil. Later in 2013 I lost my mum that encouraged me more because I had to put myself through and all and I knew that will not pass for an excuse if I fail in life.

How were you able to raise fund for your business?
I raised funds from my big friends whom I shared my idea with, though it wasn’t not easy at all finding someone who believe in your vision.

How do you advertised your business?
The social media has been a great platform through with all my products are advertised.

What are the challenges you’ve faced while running your business?
The challenge I have faced I will say is getting funds for expansion.

How does it feel being your own boss?
Mehn…. being my own boss is the sweetest decision i have taken because no one orders you around, you run at your own pace..trust me it’s amazing

Has it been financially rewarding?
Yes it has been rewarding. Very rewarding.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 YEARS! Quibilah should have 3 offices at least in Nigeria, while I am rounding off my masters in criminology or criminal psychology.
