My name is Sandra candidus from Benue state, my mum has 5 children ,she had 4 children in her previous marriage 2 boys and 2 girls, so her husband was not treating her right, there was no love at all because she married the man when she was 18, it was her brother that forced her in to the marriage, so she and her 4 kids resided in Delta state with her husband.

After some time, she Left her husband and kids because the suffering was too much, her husband was neglecting her, and could not take care of her and the kids, so when she was leaving the man’s house, he didnt allow her to have custody of the children.

My mum eventually left without her kids. 2 year years later she met my dad who was a police officer, the both of them started dating, and then she got pregnant with me, my mom later told me that giving birth to me was the best thing ever.

My dad was so happy and so in love, everything was going very well for us, but when I turned 8 my dads friend who was outside the country for years came back after 11 years, so me and my dad went to visit him and then he poisoned my dad, so from that day my family and my house became a war zone, there was no peace again because my dad started behaving like someone that has mental problem.

While me as a child, I became sleepless, because every day my mom and dad always fought each other. My dad will be saying he will kill my mom….and I love my mom so much, because of this incessant fight, I started having sleepless night, I felt if I just closed my eyes, maybe by the time woke up my mum would be dead. Because of that i always stayed awake pleading with my dad not to hurt my mum.

I remember one day, I was sleeping in my room at night then I started hearing my moms voice, she was crying and shouting, I woke up with fear and I was trembling. I ran to my mum and dad’s room and I saw my mum on fire, i quickly jumped into the fire with her, while trying to protect her, i said to my self if my mom dies, I have to die with her.
