- Babatunde Fashola has said the Nigerian road network will improve if funds are spent on maintaining them
- The minister of works and housing praised the Buhari administration for its commitments towards road infrastructure
- Fashola said the ministry of works currently has 711 contracts to complete.
An estimate of N500 billion will be needed for the next three years to develop the road network in Nigeria, according to the minister of works and housing, Babatunde Fashola. Fashola is hoping to complete all outstanding road projects.
The minister made the statement on Tuesday, November 24, at an interactive session with journalists, Channels TV reported. He said: “I think that a minimum of half a trillion every year over the next two, three years will be a strong support to really advance and complete as many as the 711 contracts.”
Fashola said most road construction in Nigeria would have been completed if past administrations had shown a commitment to developing road infrastructure like President Muhammadu Buhari. He said the current administration had resolved to complete many of the uncompleted road projects it inherited from other administrations.
