Nigerian Lady Celebrates Becoming A Permanent Resident Of The United States Of America
A Nigerian Lady living in the US, named Oghenemaro Anuyah who went there for her studies 5 years ago, has just announced that she just became a permanent resident of the United States.
She shared the good on news on her linkedIn platform and captioned it:
I am excited to share that I officially became a permanent resident of the United States of America today!
As an international student living in the USA, this is especially an exciting and surreal moment because I received my Green Card through the United States National Interest Waiver (NIW) category and after 5 years that I moved to the United States for graduate studies.
For those of us hearing about the NIW for the first time, it is a Merit-Based permanent residency category awarded to foreign nationals with exceptional ability in their field.
To demonstrate my eligibility, I provided evidence to show that my research in Human-Computer Interaction, Information Retrieval, and Artificial Intelligence is of both substantial merit and national importance to the USA, that I am well-positioned to advance research in these areas, and that it will be beneficial to the USA to allow me to continue to pursue my research.
My petition was approved without receiving a Request for Evidence (RFE), meaning that my application was solid with no further questions asked!
I am highly grateful to God Almighty for making all of this possible. I also want to use this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported me in my research and academic journey; my mentors from the University of Notre Dame and Boise State University, my research peers and collaborators, my Professors who have greatly imparted me through their teaching, and all of the Professors that have written letters of recommendation on my behalf.
I want to especially thank my Ph.D. advisor, Dr. Ronald Metoyer, for his support throughout the process. Thank you!
