Joy idimi is my childhood friend, we both attended the same secondary school. She shares an amazing story on motherhood with Elora’s Blog.
I started working with children way back in the university when I was not married. It got me to love and appreciate children . I believe every child is beautiful and unique in their own way. Children are amazing and loving to be with, if someone does not have patience and love, working with them will be difficult.
When I got married and gave birth to my son. It was a whole different experience, I had never had a child before so it was so different from working with children. There are times I would run to the hospital over everything strange I saw on my son because everything was strange to me…lol. Most times nothing was even wrong with my son when I finally see the doctor.
I started making friends with other mothers and as they shared their own experiences I got to understand a lot of things. It is only normal for every new mum to be skeptical when it comes to their baby because they have never been a mum before as it is their first time.
So now with my son I have had the experience of being a mother. I didn’t have to run to the hospital over everything except it’s a medical case. When I gave birth to my second child it was much easier because I had learned from the first one.
There are times when my friends and sister would call me to ask what I did at a particular time when my baby was 3 months or questions like when did your baby start walking, when did you introduce your baby to solid food or what baby soap or lotion did you use for your baby. Exactly how i would call my friends or mum who have had children before to ask questions. Every mother will like to hear from other mothers so they know if it’s normal or something serious that needs a doctor’s attention. These questions were what inspired me to start motherhood gist.
Motherhood gist is about me sharing my experiences as a mother and the aim is to help expecting or new mums. There are questions that are not necessarily for a doctor and can be answered by someone who have had the experience of nursing a child. As the kids grow, we keep learning so there is still so much to learn.
I am a proud mum of 2 kids and believe me nursing a child is not so easy but yet they are one of the most beautiful and amazing gift of life.
