Sandra Enyida, is fit, smart and intelligent. She speaks with Elora’s Blog in this interview.

Plesase tell us about your background?

I’m Sandra Enyida, and I’m from Ahoada East in Rivers state. I grew up in Port Harcourt, with a lot of love for the city. I’m the Head Coach of Senyida®, my fitness and wellness brand.

You’re an Entrepreneur, what’s your line of business?
I’m a fitness coach, and I decided to put this brand together to help people get proactive about their health. People want to take care of themselves, but they don’t really know how to, especially with the conflicting health information everywhere these days. I help them sieve through all that information to get what they really need to reap results in their fitness and wellness.

What inspired you to start up your business?
I decided to start up my business because I saw a gap I needed to fill. People were making health mistakes that were literally costing them their lives, and I saw that the solution is simple, basic awareness of the little changes they can make in their lifestyle to avoid illness. My biggest happiness is seeing the ‘Aha!’ moment when my client finally gets it, and makes the quality decision to get healthier.

How were you able to raise fund for your business?
I literally started from the scratch. Presently, I’m still raising funds… It’s almost a constant thing for an entrepreneur. My family is supportive too. I focus more on building a name around fitness, solving people’s problems, and money becomes a net result.

How do you advertise your business?
My business is mostly on social media. I love that because I can reach thousands of people I may never meet. Yes, I do physical coaching for clients, I enjoy that too. Still, I enjoy the versatility and leverage of social media. I give out wellness tips regularly on my page, ‘Sandie Says’ that over 3000 people follow. I’m presently setting up my blog and website. Using these tools I don’t directly advertise my business. I just show up, give value, and carve my niche.

What are the challenges you’ve faced while running your business?
The major challenge I’ve faced so far, are clients trying to constantly get value without putting down value (money) for it. It’s much less now, but you still get requests from people wanting free physical training. It’s incredulous… Like you want me to sweat with you, give you my expertise and knowledge, buy quality food for myself to be able to workout with you and other clients (endurance) and transport myself around, all on nothing??

I’ve learnt to sieve out those kind of clients who just want to use me, and focus on those who actually see the value in what I’m offering. Sometimes I meet people who actually have financial challenges, and I’m able to offer them any of my digital products free, instead of spending time and energy.

Another major challenge I have is managing clients’ expectations. I get requests close to the kind plastic surgeons get… People wanting ‘magical’ results within a really short time. I have a lot of talks with my clients to smoothen that out so we’re on the same page before we begin our program. Being involved mentally is also crucial to what I do.

How does it feel being your own boss?
It feels good, naturally. It’s more of a journey filled with learning, being this focused on building a legacy.

Has it been financially rewarding?
Yes, it has been rewarding. For now, all of the ‘rewards’ are going back in to prop the brand up.

Where do you see your brand in 5 years?
In 5 years, I’d be the foremost wellness authority in Nigeria. My brand would become a living thing, with lots of independent systems giving value and touching lives.
