I completed my matric in 2013. In 2014 I was registered with University of Johannesburg for Bcom Accounting Degree unfortunately I couldn’t finish the course, i was blocked when I had to register for my 2nd year because I owe the institution my fees and the sad part is I had no funding, I didn’t qualify for NSFAS since my dad was earning a lot. I dropped out. To date, I still don’t know why my dad didn’t bought me textbooks and paid my fees but I’m over that now. 2015 my dad suggested that I should go to TUT and look for a course since it’s the university he can afford. I went to TUT and got registered for Diploma in Building Sciences. I moved to Soshanguve and stayed with my aunt in her RDP house, since I couldn’t stay with my dad because my stepmom didn’t want us in our home. I was depressed, felt like my life is going nowhere I failed my first year, i repeated the first semester modules twice and I got excluded.

2016 I sent my appeal letter to the department, it was approved and they suggested that I should attend counseling which varsity is offering, i agreed. I moved back to where i grew up, to be with my mom and started to use a Putco bus to travel to school everyday. Everything started flowing that year, I started to pass some of my modules with distinctions and I passed my first year.

2017 I had to look for internship before I can be able to register for my second year subjects. I struggle to get employment for 5 months , my qualification it got delayed by 6 months, I quickly made peace with that. June 2017 I got the internship at Ceenex Consultants for 12 months. That’s when I got a chance to register for my second year. Ceenex offered to pay my for my varsity fees and later on they paid my drivers license in September 2017 which my dad kept on promising to pay. I was the resident engineer assistant, supervising the construction of the bulk line supply at KwaMhlanga, i would walk 8 Km’s a day, you would swear uthi ngilusa izinkomo😂. My internship ran from June 2017 to June 2018.

My director was impressed by my hard work then 2018 February he bought me a new Nissan NP200 bakkie and gave me a petrol card to use. June 2018, I submitted my reports and assignments at TUT and I failed one major subject. My contract with Ceenex came to an end, then my director decided to extend it 2019 June. July 2018 I registered for my 3rd year and carried one subject from the second year, i was full time at work and varsity as well, i was travelling from Boekenhouthoek (KwaNdebele) to Pretoria every day till this year June with the company vehicle 🙌🏾.It was difficult, but I told myself that I’m a winner and I’m going to win both my qualification and employment. I qualified to write all my modules then I failed one major subject, I wrote a re-exam, I failed again then I went for exit, I passed with the distinction 😒,I got my diploma and permanent contract with Ceenex🙌🏾✨.I’m their resident engineer at Bundu water scheme, biggest project at Thembisile Hani Local Municipality ✨

I know the pain of not qualifying to write your exams.
I know the pain of being academically excluded.
I know the pain of seeing students you were sharing a class with me,graduating.
I’ve learned to congratulate others, hoping that my time is coming.

I had to train my mind to be stronger than my emotions or else I was going lose myself every time.
I didn’t care about what people were saying about me because they were not aware of what I was going through. My entire life can be described in one sentence “ it didn’t go as planned “ and that’s okay!
To fail, it doesn’t mean that you’re a failure but you must change your mechanism and try again, you’ll win.

You may not be where you want to be but you’re exactly where God wants you to be, hang in there, your time is coming ♥️
