Lady Who Applied For Multiple Jobs Daily Succeeds, Gets Hired By Google
A lady named Eunice Ishimwe is still amazed that she just accepted an offer at Google. Six years ago, she never evisaged that she would be working at Google. It feels like a dream to her.
She shared a short story about her life and everything she has been through on her linkedIn platform.
She wrote:
This day has finally come…
Six years ago, if you had told my 15 year old self, packing up her bags to go across the continent that she would be working at Google at Google I would have laughed in your face.
I graduated in July 2021, with so many hopes and dreams. Here is a little run down of the months after graduation:
- Lost my two on-campus jobs due to graduation
- Rejection after rejection
- Couch hopping with no stable address
- Facing the risk of going back to my home country (international students can relate)
Also in those four months
- Applying to multiple jobs a day
- Praying God could open a door for a job
- Trying so hard to see the bright side
- GETTING AN INTERVIEW WITH GOOGLE
After these four months, I am extremely happy to announce that I have accepted an offer at Google as an Associate Data Center Facilities Technician.
I first thank God so much for opening this door and giving me the strength and patience I needed. It has been a journey to get here, and It feels so good to finally start a new chapter.
To all my fellow international students, you can also do it, take it from me. If it was possible for me, it is also possible for you. Apply to the job you think you think you are ‘unqualified’, don’t keep yourself in a box.
A special thanks to my recruiters Laura Brabham and Lauren Urbanski for helping me out through this whole process. To all the mentors and people that gave me the best advice throughout my interview process and job search: Tessa Gibson, Brian Napier , Nathaniel Zadu , Temanté Leary J.D., M.B.A. , Denise Hamilton , Joseph Bazezew , Ewnet Asmare. Also thanks Jerry Lee 💡 for giving me the best resume and linkedIn tips.
