She’s proud because she would rather work for a company everyone wants to be apart of than work for a company that thinks the employees don’t have a personal life.

Working for Microsoft has given me a different perspective on being a minority in corporate America.

While I was on campus, I visited the visitor’s center as well as the merch store. As my husband and I were checking out, I asked the cashier how difficult it was to get a job there. She said, “It’s hard anywhere within Microsoft because everyone wants to work here.”

When we walked out, I looked around and just cried. My husband rubbed my back and said, “Baby, you did it. You’re here.” I thought about all of those frustrating days I had wishing someone would say yes. After leaving healthcare recruiting, I never imagined that place would be Microsoft.

What the cashier said stuck with me though…”It’s hard anywhere within Microsoft because everyone wants to work here.” That made me proud because I would rather work for a company everyone wants to be apart of than work for a company that thinks the employees don’t have a personal life.

I thank God everyday for allowing me to endure tests and making me strong enough to pass. For helping me encourage others because now I’m on the other side. For helping me remember that I will always be a candidate and that urgency is just as important as anything else.
