A friend of mine, shared her story with Elora’s Blog to encourage someone out there that feels his/her life is a standstill.
I finished secondary school 1999 , I went to UNIBEN 2000 for diploma in Accounting since I didnt make jamb , after the program I waited for 2 more years to gain direct entry .

I will check the board anytime I hear that a new list is out but my name just refused to be in the list . I was frustrated but told myself I just have to finish strong .

I later heard about certificate courses in University of Port Harcourt and that if I pass the program I will be given admission to year 1 . I made up my mind for it but some of my friends did try to discourage me concerning my age, but the last time I checked education especially in university level has no age .

I got the form at 23 and some of my secondary school set were already running a masters degree in the school but I was never ashamed , I never lied to any of them cause I have always believed that starting same race same time doesn’t mean we will finish same time . I made the program and started year 1 at 24.

I was the oldest in my crew maybe some lied about their age ( you know girls and age ) to cut the long story short , I met my husband at year 3 , he was in final year then and he told me I am not looking for a girlfriend but I want who I will spend my life with because after school I won’t have time to look for a wife.

But the truth was that marriage has never been in my list cause I am a lazy woman as per domestic works so I don’t think men will manage me cause that is what we were almost thought . And some of the people around me then wasn’t happy that I was dating a student considering my age and even my ex comforted me that he thought I will date someone else and not a student but he is a loving person , he is understanding, his mentality about life is simple , he is hardworking and a good package in as much as marriage was never in my agenda but the truth is that life has a way of doing things it’s way .

After graduation and service, we got married and we have 2 adorable kids .
