Owumi Michael Ogah is highly talented, he discovered his passion quite early, and has turned it into a money making machine. He speaks to Elora’s Blog in this interview.

Please tell us about your background?

My name is Owumi Michael Ogah with business name owumzart. I hail from delta state, warri South. I’m a graduate of Physics from Federal University Otuoke, bayelsa state.

You’re an Entrepreneur, what’s your line of business?

My line of business is art & designs.

What inspired you to start up your business?

My inspiration for starting a business all began right from my childhood… I’ve always had the passion of creating value & getting rewarded for it. The driving force all lies in the fact that I hate being broke, & I’m passionate about my craft.

How were you able to raise fund for your business?

Raising funds wasn’t really quite easy from the beginning. But I just took baby steps like every other entrepreneur. First I utilized the benefits of “friends & family” by speaking to those within my sphere of contact about what I do (drawing & painting), then they spoke to their own friends & then I get contacted to make portraitures often. From there I was able to raise funds in getting more materials, creating more awareness & more.

How do you advertise your business?

I advertise my business solely on 3 major platforms;
*Word-of-mouth *Referrals
*Public Display (Street painting, Wart exhibition)
*Social media (Facebook, whatsapp, instagram etc).

Some of the challenges includes;
* Importing of art quality materials from Lagos, Nigeria.
* Meeting the deadline from clients at a very short time frame.
* Government policies & agencies when I began my art studio.

*Delivery of works from one state to another & overseas (western world).

How does it feel being your own boss?
It feels great, it’s like a dream come through as I keep aspiring for greater Heights.

Has it been financially rewarding?

Certainly.

Where do you see your brand in 5 years?

In the next 5years I see owumzart becoming a household name, client-friendly, having an art gallery/Academy, art store. Organising art exhibitions & delivering quality artworks to nations of the earth.
