What Inspired you to start up your business?
Well I would say my inspiration comes from love for farming and seeing that meat which is part of the dietary protein requirement is readily available and that’s why I love poultry, fishery and piggery because these livestocks are white meat and very proteinous without any much fear especially since the rising fear of red meat.
Also I would say Greenshore farms wouldn’t be if my Dad didn’t spark up that hunger. During those those when I was in the age of nine. He had a small backyard farm where he reared Broilers. While helping on the farm, I mástered the craft of rearing and caring of birds so well that before Age Eleven, I already began to inject medication to the birds. As I grew up I also began my own and I loved it so much with passion.
How were you able to raise fund for your business?
Fund raising was a challenge at first because the vision I hard that really propelled me to into agribusiness was more than me. I didn’t just want to start a farm.
I wanted to start a big business around agriculture that includes meat processing and packaging but then I had to go back and think smart. Understanding that investors would love to see a record of what you can do, I used my savings and funds from friends and family and I started off immediately. Before I could say Jack, investors began to come and my projection is that by next year, we will fully enter into processing parts.
How do you advertise your business?
We advertise by going to supermarkets, meatshops, hotels, restaurants and butchers.
Also our business understands the power of advertising through the use of social media so we are on Instagram, Facebook and soon on YouTube. One good thing is that our products are very good, not fatty and yet affordable so they speak by themselves.
How does it feel being your own boss?
There is no big deal about being a boss anybody can be a boss anywhere, the only difference is in your ability to maximise the opportunity and time it gives effeciently and effectively. Reason is because it gives me opportunity to think of more investment opportunities.
What are the challenges you’ve faced while running your business?
The challenges are too many but I think that’s the reason we are still standing. Ranging from Capital for necessary equipments, efficient workers, customers and most importantly, the bad sharp practices of some farmers who don’t understand the business and are spoiling it with their act.
For instance, most customers used to believe that pork is fatty, dirty, this and that but I took it upon myself to educate people on how to cook pork and also educate farmers on how to rear pigs for better productivity.
Pig and chickens are rich in protein and pigs has a high amount of so many vitamins the body needs. So I think the challenges can be surmounted.
Has it been financially rewarding?
Looking at where we were and where we are now, I know we are growing.
I bless God and thank our customers and workers. With all our combined efforts, It has paid and its still paying.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years
We are projecting that in next five years, we will become one of the foremost Livestock production farm with capacity to process Livestock produce.
Just like I said earlier, we are not into agro-business just for Livestock and Crop production but to process and generate raw materials for various use in other sectors.
Also arrangements are already in place for a rich academy to cater for new and intending farmers and also enlighten investors on wise investments.
