Man Who Almost Committed Suicide At Age 13, Shares Motivational Post, Outline All His Achievement

A man named Maxwell-Akinyemi has shared a touching story of the challenges he encountered with his dad while growing up and how it almost affected his academics. He almost committed suicide at age 13, but presently he has achieved so much in life. Sharing on LinkedIn, he wrote:

At age 13, I decided to commit suicide!

I mean, growing up with a drunk Dad, who beats up your Mom, sends the family packing to no where in the middle of the nights all for the influence of alcohol is one of the most humiliating things a child can experience.

I was psychologically affected, robbed of my esteem and denied nobility as a kid.

My sisters and I would cry day and night, only to wake up again to our neighbour’s gist that our father is lying almost perceived dead in the gutters.

Going through school was a Miracle, at every end of each learning stage, going to the next is mostly 90% impossible considering the odds.

Even though my Dad earned not so much, he prioritized his bottles of alcohol before us, spent a little on them still compared to the results they have – almost losing his entire earnings to irrelevant things but for my Mom,

She is really a strong woman! Ensured we were sent to school even if it meant going through shadows of death of my Dad’s beatings.

This is part of my story, but beyond just an ordinary tale, it has been a source of my strength over the years amidst the odds;

  • Made the over-all best student in primary school,
  • Became a positive force whilst an undergraduate and wore many hats of Leadership portfolios,
  • Became a first-generation University Graduate
  • Selected as a one of top Nigeria’s 100 exceptional youths
  • Found worthy of a Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University education by Junior Achievement Nigeria
  • Building a reputable career in Technology and Education
  • Became a TEDx Licensee after 4 trials!

..and more, these seemingly small wins but for a boy from the hollows of tatteredness is huge and are just yet!

And yes, I’m alive today because the best Mom saved my live just in time before I succeeded killing myself.
