Man Shares His Accident Experience And How He Recovered

A young man named Joshua Owonla who was involved in a ghastly accident has shared his encounter on linkedIn. Read his post below:

I AM ALIVE TODAY BY GOD’S MERCY

It happened on Thursday 28th October, 2021

After the successful completion of my Industrial Training in Lagos, I was heading back to school to commence the first semester of 500 level, my final year in FUTA, Akure.

I went to the park to board a bus as usual on that faithful day.
The bus was very comfortable, it had cottons and the AC was switched on.
I was sitting in the first row of the bus and the AC vent was directly on my head.

Within 1 hour I slept off while listening to one of Dunsin Oyekan songs.
(Trust me, if you were in my position you would have also probably slept off).

I was seriously enjoying the sleep, and just about an hour after I slept off, a sound woked me up and I slowly regained my consciousness.

It was then, I noticed I was bleeding seriously from my mouth, my jaw had shifted a little, and all my teeth were literally shaking, halves of 2 of my teeth were broken.

There has been an accident.

I noticed I couldn’t move my left leg, there was a dislocation in my left thigh.
All this while, the injured were been carried by other passengers with the help of those who had gathered. And I wasn’t even feeling any pain, until it was my turned to be carried.

Oh my, the pain was something else, I cried. We were taken to the nearest hospital around Shagamu area with the help of the Federal Road Safety.

On our way to the hospital, a lot of stuff was running through my mind…
What happened, I’ve been travelling on this road since 2016 before I gained admission till my 400 level and I have never had such an experience, didn’t I pray enough, was i not suppose to travel today, but why this, why me?

When we got to the hospital, the bleeding was stopped, my lip was stitched. I took an x-ray, there was no broken bones.

My parents were contacted, and they got to the hospital the next day.

It was when they brought my bags to the hospital I noticed that my laptop was broken, I usually place it on my laps while travelling, It was literally destroyed.

I was seriously pained where do I start from? I was working on some client’s project at that time. How do I continue? How do I go about my IT reports? All this were running through my mind.

It was in the hospital I got the whole story of the accident, they said our bus was in the middle of 2 trailers, our driver and one of the trailer driver were on calls while driving, one thing led to another and gbam… accident, the trailer didn’t stop. The driver was badly injured, and like six other passengers that were in the first two rows including me were injured.

I was taking only pap and soft swallow for about a month, I was walking with 1 leg and after about 3 week I started walking slowing with the aid of a walking stick.

During this period, I lost my laptop, I lost some design projects I was working on, I lost my sleep, I couldn’t sleep at night cause of the pain I was going through.
