Two weeks ago, I officially graduated with a Masters of Law (LL.M) in International Business Law at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Canada.

As I look back on past year and half I remember my decision to take a break from law practice and go back to the class room. I remember the tearful good byes to family and friends, and beginning what I would term as a life defining and humbling journey. I remember being humbled and grateful to have been taught by an amazing faculty, and meeting, and learning with over 100 exceptional legal minds from across the world.

I have a moment of nostalgia remembering starting out life again in a different country, and recalling how tough the first couple of months being here were. Through what I would describe as uncomfortable mounding days, I remember being constantly encouraged by my supportive family and community of friends that “Better is Coming” and that what was required of me was to stay, wait, hope, keep praying and put in the work.

Immense gratitude to the team at 100km Foods Inc. who decided to take a punt on a foreign trained lawyer with no warehouse administration experience. Thank you for your keen interest in seeing me thrive, and for your best wishes as I sought to pursue a career in the law.

In all, I am grateful for the community and lantern hearts that helped make my dream become real.

I find my self looking to the future with optimism, knowing there’s more to write in my Canadian story and that in time, I would grasp the Better that has been promised.
