Lasisi Elenu Recalls Losing His Mum Due To Lack Of Hospital Beds, Says : “Nigeria’s Hospitals Have Failed Too Many People”

Comedian Lasisi Elenu has reopened a painful conversation about Nigeria’s healthcare system.

He revealed that in 2022 his mother was moved from one federal hospital to another, with each one saying “no bed space.” The family had to call in connections through doctors and acquaintances before she could be admitted. Sadly, she later passed away.

He also recounted another family friend who was reportedly driven around LUTH, General Hospital Ikeja, General Hospital Igando and other facilities before also dying.

His question: “Why should a hospital bed require a connection before it becomes available?”
