Scholarship Choke💃💃💃….
With a heart full of joy and thanks, I am glad to announce that I have got three fully funded scholarships, two to the UK and one to Taiwan, for my PhD studies.
The most surprising thing is that the two scholarships to the UK were for the same school, not just any UK school but a Russell Group school, which has been ranked the 7th best school in the world and the 3rd in the UK. I know you are wondering which school she is talking about 🤔.
I am talking about no other school than Imperial College London. I was awarded the Deepmind scholarship and the Doctoral Teaching Scholarship to study at Imperial College London. After some days, I was awarded the TIGP Rising Star scholarship in Taiwan.
Now I was confused about which scholarship to choose. Omo, I had several sleepless nights oh!!. The choice was hard as each offer had its uniqueness.
However, the doctoral teaching scholarship looked more favourable to me, so I chose it and I had to reject the other two sadly 😞😞.
This testimony did not happen over night. Let me give you a small gist of my scholarship journey ☺☺🤗.
My scholarship journey for a PhD started in June 2021. I applied to over 15 different schools and scholarships. It was so tough that I wanted to give up, but when I read the stories of people who had applied to 20, 30, or even 50 scholarships before they got their one yes, I decided to keep pushing till I got my one yes. I kept myself motivated with different posts and testimonies from Victor Agboga, Olumuyiwa Igbalajobi (Ph.D) , Mercy Ojetunde and encouragement from Rita Orji, PhD and Blossom Martins (ANIPR) posts.
Out of all the scholarships and schools I applied to, I got rejected by 9, got no response from 2, and got one admission with no funding. Two weeks after all of this rejection, I received not one, but three yeses.
This post is to encourage everyone struggling with scholarship applications that just one yes is all you need to be victorious.
I also want to thank my lecturers, Sulaimon Bashir , Shafi’i Muhammad Abddulhamid, Ovre Jeffrey, and Abdulmalik Mohammed, Ph.D, for taking out their time to write recommendation letters for me. Without their recommendations, my efforts would have been in vain. My thanks go to udama victor for always holding my hands whenever I wanted to give up.
Thanks to my family for your faith in me always. Thank you, Imperial College London and TIGP, for seeing my potential and giving me a chance to be a great scientist.
I am open to connections on LinkedIn 😊. so you can follow or connect lets build together.
Congratulations to her.
