“I Don’t Want Money From You, I Just Want You To Buy Me Exercise Books For School”- Little Boy Begs Lady On The Street
As shared by Elphas Saizi on LinkedIn.
“I met a 12-year-old boy named Ernest Musonda who stopped me and said “”Auntie I need help.””” I was retarded and tried to ignore him but he persisted and said I don’t want money from you, I just want you to buy me exercise books for school.
He said he lives in Misisi with his grandmother and younger brother and his grandmother’s legs are so swollen she can’t walk.
Also, he said he goes to John Laing primary school and has no one to buy him books. But he already has a uniform and shoes.
So we went to one of the stores on the market and bought 10 books. And the boy was excited and said they would last me all year (until I write my seventh grade exams).
He said his grandmother was selling vegetables to make money for him and his brother.
But all of a sudden his legs started swelling up and they don’t understand why. He has no choice but to go to town to ask for help or work in the room to collect money to feed himself.
Nevertheless, his eloquence and everything he shared in a short time amazed me. “
Lesson: Don’t ignore everyone who needs help, because some really need it.
