“3 years ago I was job-hunting, begging for giveaways online. But not anymore.
Here’s what changed.
I met this old-time school friend on LinkedIn
I noticed she works as a “Software Engineer” with a Bank
But I remember vividly that she read “Economics & Statistics”
Upon inquiry I learnt that Annie made the transition into tech 1 year ago..
For me I read Political Science & Public Administration
The kind of job roles open to me were minor roles
My salary expectations were between $80-200 monthly
I figured that’s not the kind of life I wanted.
I quit my hectic $40/month job in February 2020
Spent the next 11 months learning new stuff online
I made my first $2k online in March 2021
What skill did I learn? → Social Media Marketing
I learnt it by buying training courses online
I studied online for months (still learning)
Quick Question:
- What if Annie kept hunting for jobs as a Statistician?
- What if I kept hunting for jobs with my BSc POL?
Frustration comes from doing the same old things & expecting different results.
If you want a change, change your approach.
Be willing to unlearn & relearn new things
That’s how you stay relevant in an ever-changing world.
Reality Check:
What did you study in school & what are you doing now”?
