Why We Don’t Celebrate Birthdays With Presents In Njoku House – Iroko TV Boss Jason Disciplines Kid, Says No Smart Phones Till Age 16

Jason Njoku is talking once again about his parenting policies. The father of three, and CEO of IrokoTV has taken to social media to share why he does not celebrate birthdays in his household with presents, especially for his kids. This is not the first time Jason Njoku is sharing his parenting philosophies either as he’s also shared his stance around smartphones for his children. Here’s what Jason Njoku had to say about his birthday philosophy and his smartphone policy.

While celebrating his daughter Nnenna’s 7th birthday, Jason shared videos and pictures of the modest celebration writing about it:

JASON NJOKU: In the Njoku house we have never really celebrated birthdays with presents & glitzy stuff. We try to avoid the culture of consumption. Kids have most things they need so we try to keep special occasions for close Friends and family.

He also explained why none of his children have smartphones saying:

JASON NJOKU: [When it] was Obi’s 11th birthday, [he’d] been asking for a phone. So we got him one. The no apps Nokia 5310 feature phone. 🤣. He can get a smart phone when his 16. 🙏🏾

What business do kids have with smart phones? When its time my kids at 15+ will get feature phones. Adults can barely manage to not lose themselves in devices. Kids need constant guard rails

Since I restricted ALL electronics for Obi, he has turned into a beast of a reader. Churning through a book a week and he even bugged me to complete the Percy Jackson franchise. This is definitely a big win for the clan. A few years back we had to force him to read. 🙏🏾
