“When The Woman Starts Earning Significantly More, Some Men Begin To Feel Emasculated, Inadequate, Or Disrespected”-Actress Mary NjokuAddresses The Impact Of Financial Disparity On Marriages

Actress and producer Mary Njoku has addressed the impact of financial disparity on marriages, noting that many men struggle when their wives earn more.

In a recent Instagram post, Njoku said many women genuinely support their husbands’ success and often view it as progress for the entire family.

She observed, however, that the same level of support is not always reciprocated when a woman begins to earn significantly more than her husband.

“Most women are genuinely happy when their man becomes very successful. In fact, many women pray for it. They want their husbands to win because they see his success as a win for the family. But a lot of men struggle when the tables are turned,” she wrote.

According to her, some men in such situations experience feelings of emasculation, inadequacy, and a sense of being disrespected, even in the absence of any provocation from their wives.

“When the woman starts earning significantly more, some men begin to feel emasculated, inadequate, or disrespected. Even when she has done absolutely nothing to make them feel that way.

“Suddenly, every little disagreement becomes, “It’s because you have more money than me.” And that’s the real issue”, she continued.

She attributed the tension not to the woman’s success, but to the man’s personal insecurity about what that success implies about his role.

“Sometimes the disrespect isn’t coming from the woman. It’s coming from the man’s own insecurity about what her success means about him”, she added.

The actress argued that a healthy partnership requires a man to celebrate his partner’s achievements rather than see them as competition.

She concluded that ego often prevents this, making it difficult for some men to accept a dynamic where the woman is the higher earner.

“So yes, I think this point is valid. A woman’s success should not make a man feel smaller. And a man who truly loves his woman should be able to celebrate her success without turning it into a competition. But their Ego no go gree”, she ended.
