Tears As Fresh Graduate And Her Fiancé Lose their Lives In Anambra Hostel C@llapse

A heartbreaking tragedy has struck Anambra State after the bodies of a fresh graduate, Vivian Chinedum, and her fiancé, Ifeanyi Stanley, popularly known as Don Cash, an NYSC member, were recovered from the rubble of the c@llapsed Elite 5-Star Hostel in Amaokpala, near the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.

The hostel, which reportedly had about 60 rooms, caved in on Sunday night, July 26, 2026. Vivian, a baker and alumna of the institution, was said to have been with Ifeanyi, a Moniepoint PoS machine distributor serving with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), when the building c@llapsed.

According to friends, Ifeanyi had visited Vivian at the hostel at about 10:45 p.m. on the night of the incident. What was meant to be another moment together tragically became their last?

Friends described the couple as hardworking, ambitious and deeply committed to building a future together.

Mourning the loss, Wisdom Chisom wrote, “This is a very dark and p@inful day for all of us. You left us too soon, my friend, my brother, my classmate. May God comfort your family and give us the strength to bear this great loss.”

Another friend, Ganobi Precious Ifeanyichukwu, described them as “very hardworking and promising,” adding, “It p@ins me that their d+ath was as a result of our failed standard in building & building materials.”

In another emotional tribute, Fabulously Da Christiano wrote, “We all looked forward to the day we’d celebrate your success. You had dreams, you had plans, and you never stopped believing that better days were ahead. It’s p@inful that after all that effort, you didn’t get the chance to enjoy the fruits of your labour.”

The tragic incident has left family, friends and members of the Oko community devastated, with many demanding a thorough investigation into the c@llapse and justice for the victims.
