Today, I’m celebrating my 6 year Amaversary at Amazon, and couldn’t be more grateful to be on this journey.
Amazon was my first job after graduating college in 2016. I didn’t know much about the company then, but it was worth the try. During the 6 years, I’ve been fortunate to work with the best of the best individuals. I’ve built genuine friendships. I’ve been fortunate to create impact and opportunities in ways I’ve never thought or imagined; Like the $150M Black Business Accelerator, developing week long programing for BEN Startup Week 2019, 5+ New Amazon Referrals, and facilitating $40K+ in funding for nonprofits near and dear to my heart (There’s more but these are just a few).
Thanks to my friends, colleagues, managers, mentors, and more importantly, my sponsors. I don’t believe in self made — If it were not for you, I wouldn’t have been afforded a seat at the tables I’ve had access to. It’s because of your commitment to me and your heart to lift as you climb, I am now able to help move the needle to create change.
What’s next?
- Serve: I’m a servant leader; I will continue to find ways and opportunities I can be of service to those who need it most.
- Lift as I climb: The next generation need sponsors. I will ensure I get others a seat at the right tables.
- Tech is here to stay: To that end, my desire is to create programming that will advance equity in the startup ecosystem.
- Rest: I will have fun and take breaks.
Cheers to 6 years! I pray that God continues to order my step on this journey, and surround me with the right community.
