In many parts of the world, police officers are revered and celebrated within their communities. In Mzansi, that’s not necessarily the case. Our country has a history of police brutality and currently, numerous cops have been caught accepting bribes, amongst other offences.
However, a kindhearted police sergeant has set the tone for benevolence, as the winter months approach under lockdown.
Sergeant Matome Rathupetsane recently celebrated his 40th birthday in unique fashion. Instead of treating himself to a lavish gift, he decided to spend his resources to bless 80 deserving families with food parcels.
Rathupetsane donated 40 parcels to families in Alexandra and 40 families in Tzaneen. Radio 702 reported on what inspired the good deed. Rathupetsane said, “Because of COVID-19 I realized many people are hungry.
I collected a list of forty people in Alexandra and I asked my friend to collect another forty people in my village in Tzaneen.”
