A young lady named Iretioluwa Akerele has shared her testimony on X as she recently completed her PhD and became Dr in one of the Top 2% Business Schools globally.

“Exactly one week ago, I climbed the stage as Dr Iretioluwa Akerele in one of the Top 2% Business Schools globally.
I am sharing my story to encourage people who are currently pursuing an academic degree. It’s no easy feat.
On December 25, 2020, I spent my Christmas analysing research papers as I had given myself one month target to complete the analysis of 837 research papers. I met my target.
PhD stretched my limits. I was mentally and emotionally exhausted. I am grateful to everyone who showed me kindness along the way. I am also grateful to the people who extended grace to me.
Dear Graduate Students, it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to rant. I will leave you with the following quotes.
“Tough times never last, tough people do”
“Education is not a Scam”
“Do not give up, it will be worth it at the end”
“There is light at the end of the tunnel”.
Dear friends of graduate students, please be kind to people who are currently on their academic journey. It’s a struggle to combine academic work with other things. Extend grace to your friends and send words of encouragement to them.
If you are currently on your PhD journey and feel like ranting, don’t hesitate to reach out. I have been there and I can relate to the struggles.
