Nigerian Woman Wins Big In Canada, Re-Elected Councillor After Defeating 12 Other White Candidates

Ajibola Abitoye has been re-elected as a councillor in the city of Fort Saskatchewan, Province of Alberta in Canada.

The Nigerian-Canadian woman defeated 12 other white candidates in the election; the first time she won councillorship election was in 2017 Abitoye has promised to represent her people well and ensure that her second term is better than her first tenure.

A Nigerian woman identified as Ajibola Abitoye has been re-elected as a councillor in the city of Fort Saskatchewan, Province of Alberta in Canada.

Abitoye, who is popularly called Jibs, first won the election in 2017 as a new immigrant from Nigeria running against 14 other white candidates and emerging with the 3rd highest vote.

Ajibola Abitoye has made herself proud by winning re-election as councillor in the city of Fort Saskatchewan.

Defeating white candidates , Jibs won her constituency seat at the October 18, 2021 election in which she slugged it out with 12 other white candidates.

“After a successful 4 year term, she has won her seat again in her constituency after an election (October 18, 2021) against 12 other white candidates, she emerged with the 2nd highest vote, making her duly elected in her constituency for another 4 years (2021-2025).” Expressing gratitude Taking to her Facebook page, Jibs expressed gratitude to the people of Fort Saskatchewan for giving her the opportunity to serve them for another four years.

She noted that she was honoured and humbled for being given the trust to represent Fort Saskatchewan again. In her words: “Thank you Fort Saskatchewan for another 4 years to serve you as your city councillor. I’m both honoured and humbled that you have again placed your trust in me to continue representing you. I am deeply moved by the expression of confidence and I am very much grateful.”

Making improvements The politician said she would ensure that the feedbacks from her people regarding her first term would be worked on. She expressed gratitude to them for offering improvement ideas on how she can be more effective and impactful as their representative. In her words: “I sincerely appreciate your willingness to discuss what really matters to you. I have also heard your feedback from my first term and the things you would like me to improve on. I thank you all for graciously offering improvement ideas on how I can be more effective and impactful as your representative”.
