Meghan Markle opened up about being a new mother in the spotlight.

A new documentary titled Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, was released in the UK on Sunday, October 20 and in it, Meghan opened up about being a new mother in the spotlight. “Any woman, especially when they are pregnant, you are really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging,” said the princess. Meghan’s voice audibly cracks in the video as she confesses her personal struggle with living life in the royal family as Prince Harry’s wife and being a new mom. “And then when you have a newborn, you know. And especially as a woman, it is a lot,” she said. In the clip from the documentary, Meghan said that not many people checked on her emotional well-being after she had Archie while admitting she was not okay. “I guess, also, thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I am okay, but it is a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes,” she said.

This comes after Meghan and Harry have been widely criticised over the past few months for things like their spending and their hypocrisy over climate change. Not all media coverage has been negative. Yes, as a member of the British royal family you will be scrutinized and that may feel like a struggle to Meghan. But royals can also be beloved and praised and even revered. The documentary was filmed just before Harry announced in a statement that he is suing several British newspapers and tabloids for invading Meghan’s privacy and bullying her on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan recently paid visit to some countries in Africa, months after their first child’s arrival. The royal couple visited South Africa, Malawi, Angola, and others. It was gathered that they visited the countries to promote grassroots leadership, women’s and girls’ rights, mental health awareness, HIV/AIDS awareness, and the environment.
