Meet Entrepreneur Zik-Zion Abara, He Manufactured A Zedtron Pro Power Station, A Portable Unit That Can Provide Electricity, He’s The Founder OfZedora Industrial Limited

Young innovative entrepreneur Zik-Zion Abara owns a manufacturing company
named Zedora Industrial Limited that
creates products that would be beneficial to the society. He speaks to Elorasblog in this interview.

Please tell us a little bit about your background?

My name is Zik-Zion Abara, I am from Akaeze in Ebonyi State. I studied electronics and computer engineering at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka Anambra State, Nigeria.

What was your dream profession growing up?

I always wanted to be an engineer; I was always passionate about building things and making stuff work from a very young age.

Can you share with me your journey to Entrepreneurship?

It began in 2015 when I was still a student, I combined forces with my close friend Chinedu Anyikwa to begin research and development on projects I had in mind, we started from making prototypes and then continuously refining and upgrading these prototypes. We eventually incorporated our startup (Zedora Industrial Limited) in 2021. So far, we have developed about 7 products ranging from power stations, power systems and general electronics.I

Zedora Industrial Limited: where did you get the Inspiration?

I was inspired by my unquenchable desire to build and create things. Productivity is an essential part of society.

What are the services Zedora Industrial Limited provides?

Zedora Industrial Limited is an indigenous research, development and manufacturing company. We develop and create products that would be beneficial to society. We also have projects in other sectors such as bioenergy, security and defense. We also provide engineering solutions to clients who may have a specific idea or requests for implementation.

Did you attend any form of training before setting up this business?

No I did not attend any training, everything I know now was from firsthand experience participating in the business world as well as personal studying, and I do a lot of research and studying.

How does Zedtron pro power station function?

The Zedtron Pro power station is a portable unit that can provide backup power or electricity ‘on the go’ to any user. It is the size of a small stabilizer but not as heavy. The Zedtron pro can power a wide range of devices; TV, laptops, pones, fans, decoders, lights, sound systems etc except for ACs, refrigerator and irons. The Zedtron pro has two variants; Pro-A which has 96000 mAh of battery capacity and 500 watts maximum power and Pro-B which has 192000 mAh of battery capacity and 1000 watts maximum power.

For context, the pro-A can charge a laptop 4 times and the pro-B can charge a laptop 8 times.

Did you invent the Zedtron pro power station yourself?

All the designs, electronic and aesthetics were done by me, here in Ebonyi state, Nigeria.

Many young youths like you have business ideas but lack the funds to start, what’s your advice?

I would advise youths to look within and fund their ideas or businesses, collaborate or partner with fellow like minds to build your ideas into something substantial, when you gain a little traction, it will become easier to source for funds to expand via external sources. When we started Zedora, we funded all our operations with our pocket money as students, we invited some of our other friends to join us in funding the movement.

Can you share with me the setbacks and challenges you’ve encountered in this business?

We worked hard and waited for about 6 years before we could raise external funds for expansion, but prior to that, we had built a working and tangible product to show any investor. I would say the saddest setbacks we have faced are economic, specifically the issue of exchange rate, we get some of the parts for our production from international suppliers and hence we have to pay in dollars, so the wider the exchange rate becomes, the more our production cost increases, which directly results to an increase in price of the end product. Another major challenge as been supply of defective elements, this can really affect production, but we have taken steps to avoid this as much as possible.

Where do you see Zedora Industrial Limited in 5 years?

I see Zedora Industrial Limited becoming one of the largest indigenous manufacturers of viable products and services in Nigeria, in the area of electronics, energy and also agro-allied enterprises, more especially in the south east and spreading across to other regions of the country.
