Man Who Settled For OND Program Because He Didn’t Meet The Requirements For University Admission, Succeeds, Now Has BSc, ICAN
A man named Ajibola Jinadu has shared a motivational post on how his admission to the university was deffered because he didn’t meet the required grades and so he had to settle for OND which has now laid the foundation for his career to where he is presently.
He shared the journey of his career on linkedIn. He wrote:
I was always self-conscious about attending Yaba College of Technology and graduating with a Higher National Diploma.
I didn’t even get a good passing grade when I graduated.
For a long time, I associated it with the fact that I wasn’t good enough to achieve the grades required for university admission, so I settled for an ND/HND program.
Furthermore, the amazing places I actually wanted to work clearly did not take HND holders into account.
But:
• My OND supplied the foundation for me to begin my ICAN journey and qualify at the age of 21.
• My HND and ICAN served as a solid foundation for my ACCA path.
• My ACCA experience served as the foundation for my Oxford Brookes University BSc degree.
• My BSc. and ICAN served as the foundation for my employment at Deloitte.
Since the beginning of my career, it has made no difference which school I attended or did not attend.
Some of us have humble beginnings, false starts, derailments, failures, and a slew of other factors that give others a competitive advantage, and the easiest thing to do is complain about how unfair life is.
However, the real issue arises when we accept and accept those difficult circumstances as the norm. The journey may be longer or more difficult with the right mindset, but we will eventually get ahead.
Never stop. Never settle.
