Yesterday I was awarded the degree of MSc in Business Analytics from Aston University and also received the prize for Best Overall Achievement.
In December 2020 I resigned from a job of 7+ years to reinvent myself and pursue my passion of applying data analytics in business. Although to many this seemed like a rash decision during an uncertain period of the world, I was prepared to take a calculated risk for the chance to match my skills with current global trends and to continue making relevant impacts in my future endeavors.
After a year of learning from excellent faculties and colleagues at the Aston Business School, constantly pushing beyond my mental boundaries, several sleepless nights, placement and internship, a record setting business project and most importantly a tremendously transformed mindset, I am truly humbled to have achieved the best overall performance in the class of 2022!
According to Ben Francis the CEO of Gymshark who was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree at the graduation ceremony, “as you move forward, you’ll have difficult times, and I’m sure you will doubt yourself in some way everyday…if you do doubt yourself, just get through it and move on” – these words resonated deeply as they pretty much summarised my journey so far.
Next week I start a new phase as the Strategic Business Growth Manager at TelosNRG, where I’ll be applying data driven approaches to drive business growth initiatives in the company’s data centre support services across EMEA. I am thrilled to continue learning and building my skills in this new capacity.
In case you’re currently facing self-doubt about the validity of your next big professional move, tempted to settle in a “stable”, “predictable” career path rather than chasing your true dreams; I say it’s never too late and there’d never be an “ideal time” – take a moment to imagine what it could be like if you took that calculated risk.
Finally, I would like to thank all my cohort colleagues for bringing onboard great diversity in knowledge and motivation that has helped me to grow with you all collectively. I look forward to keeping in touch as you continue to take advantage of your new world class degree to break barriers around the globe.
