Lady Who Was Always Below Average In Class, Becomes Qualified Optometrist

“If a few a years back someone told me I will be a qualified Optometrist and Contact lens practitioner one day I wouldn’t have believed them because my academic journey was a tough one.

I am writing this to inspire those who feel like giving up,to hold on.
Started the course in 2014…I was always below class average, ended up deciding to change the course because I felt like I’m too dumb to be doing such a difficult course, the registered Calculus 101,later registered it again because I decided no longer to change courses, lucky enough passed all modules.

Come 2015 I’m in my 2nd year, everything got worse, had 5 rewrites, failed about 4 modules, regretted why I didn’t change the course, but I held on, repeated and passed.2017 3rd year had 4 rewrites, passed one, repeated 3 modules in 2018, the year I got pregnant ,Got F5: a warning to pass all my modules ,and lucky enough I passed.

2019 final year, same thing happened, 3 rewrites, failed 2 modules and guess what …I got F7:excluded academically 😔 I appealed ,appeal approved, only to find that NSFAS is no longer funding me had to register for my self. Yet I didn’t give up, repeated the 2 modules, it was a very tough year with lockdown, I was not coping with online assessments and kept asking myself if I will make it, but I managed to pass both modules. Reading this you’ll realize it took me 7 years to complete a 4 year course.

I kept telling myself that time isn’t a factor, the prize is..,no matter how difficult it was, God was there. Today it’s paying the bills, no matter how long it took me to complete. You reading this , please hold on, your time will come and trust me ,when God shows up, he shows off 🤞🏽 I got hired for a job before I could even write my final results 😁 after all I’m not ashamed of being a graduate at the age of 27 years because someone out there graduated at 22 and never got employed, so God’s timing is forever perfect.
God at the center of it all 🤞🏽❤️”-Fortunate Makgeru
