JAMB Registrar Admits To Errors In 2025 UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has admitted to errors in the conduct of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Speaking at a briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, expressed regret over the situation, acknowledging that what should have been a period of celebration for many candidates had been marred by technical lapses.
“What should have been a moment of joy has changed due to one or two errors,” Oloyede stated.
“We put all necessary systems in place, yet some errors still occurred.”
The disclosure comes after the Board received an unusually high volume of complaints from candidates citing inconsistencies in their results.
This follows public outcry over the general performance in the 2025 UTME where data revealed that 78 percent of candidates scored below 200 out of a possible 400 points.
JAMB has assured the public that any technical faults identified will be addressed swiftly, and appropriate remedial actions will be taken to ensure fairness and credibility in the examination process.
“As registrar of JAMB, I hold myself personally responsible, including for the negligence of the service provider. I unreservedly apologise for it,” Oloyede said.
