“It Made Me Ask Myself A Difficult Question, Do We Truly Love Nigeria Enough To Collectively Fight For Her Future?, I’m Not Talking About Chasing Anyone Away, I’m Talking About Agreeing, As A People, On What We’re Willing To Do To Reclaim Our Country” – Media Personality, Morayo Brown Says South Africa’s Actions Has Stayed On Her Mind After Xenophobic Attack

Media Personality Morayo Brown shares deep message to Nigerians.

In her words:

“South Africa’s actions have stayed on my mind. Let me be clear: I do not support xenophobia. But I do think they’ve demonstrated something many African countries struggle with a fierce sense of ownership over their nation and a willingness to put national interest first.

It made me ask myself a difficult question, do we truly love Nigeria enough to collectively fight for her future?

I’m not talking about chasing anyone away. I’m talking about agreeing, as a people, on what we’re willing to do to reclaim our country.

And no, I don’t think the answer is simply getting PVCs. A PVC is only as powerful as the decisions made with it, and many Nigerians are still too easily swayed by ethnicity, religion, or short-term interests.

Here’s my proposal, Nigeria needs an Influencers’ National Conference.

Bring together the country’s biggest voices, celebrities, pastors, imams, comedians, content creators, academics, business leaders, youth leaders, street influencers, the “olodos” and the “efikos.” Lock them in a room until they can agree on a few non-negotiable national priorities.

Then let them leave that room and speak with one voice.

Whether we like it or not, millions of Nigerians now take their cues from influencers more than from traditional news or public institutions. Instead of allowing those voices to pull the country in different directions, imagine what could happen if they became organized around a shared vision for Nigeria.

Leadership isn’t always about holding public office. Sometimes it’s about aligning the people who already hold the nation’s attention.”
