“It Is Tough For Women To Get Married In Nigeria Right Now Because Many Men Are Focused On Survival, A Lot Of People In Their Thirties Are Still Living With Their Parents— Leo Dasilva
How has marriage reshaped your priorities and outlook on life?
Before marriage, my focus was on myself and my own survival. Once you get married, if you are responsible, your family becomes your priority. Your spouse and children come first. For me, it changed my priorities completely. I do not take as many risks in business as I used to because I have to make sure my family has stability.
Some people say male ex-Big Brother housemates seem to be getting married more easily than the female ones. Do you agree?
I cannot speak for the women because only they know their personal realities. But generally, it is tough for women to get married in Nigeria right now because many men are focused on survival. A lot of people in their thirties are still living with their parents because of economic realities. Marriage is not as easy as it was in our parents’ generation.
Fame also makes relationships harder. It becomes difficult to know who genuinely likes you and who is there for the wrong reasons. For women, it can be even tougher because some people may only want them as trophies. So, I would not mock anyone. It is difficult all around.
