“I Have No Ambition To Become RCCG General Overseer” — Leke Adeboye

Pastor Leke Adeboye, son of Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has said he has no ambition to become the next General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Leke said he has seen firsthand the demands and sacrifices that come with the position.

He noted that despite being almost 84 years old, his father still maintains a demanding spiritual routine, including dry fasting and waking around 3am for prayer walks, while many people his age have already retired and are enjoying their rest.

He also spoke about the weight of the General Overseer’s responsibility, explaining that more than 20,000 RCCG churches look to the G.O. for leadership, while countless other believers also regard him as a spiritual father.

According to Leke, one of the biggest lessons is accountability.

He believes everyone will eventually give an account of the access, opportunities and positions entrusted to them.

As the G.O.’s son, he said he is conscious that he will also be accountable for the people he allows into his space and the bridges he builds.

That, he explained, is one reason he continues to encourage his father to connect more closely with other pastors who are doing similar work.
