“From Mushin To London”- Nigerian Man Beams With Joy As He Was Awarded Fully Funded Commonwealth Scholarship. To study At Imperial College London

Nigerian man named David Adefunmilayo fulfills childhood dream as he’s set to
study Advanced Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London on a fully funded Commonwealth Scholarship.

Sharing the good news on Facebook, he wrote:

“FROM MUSHIN TO LONDON 🇳🇬🇬🇧

Growing up, London was a BIG dream.

I remember being in Primary School in Mushin, and one of my mates would always joke:

“If I give you jack, you will fly to London.” 😂

Well…

I can boldly say I have finally been given that “jack.” And what a ride it has been! 😂✈️

From the streets of Mushin to studying Advanced Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London on a fully funded Commonwealth Scholarship.

Sometimes, you have to pause and look at your journey.

The little boy who once heard “London” as a distant dream is now actually living, studying and building in London.

And this isn’t just any scholarship.

I was selected as one of only two scholars across the Commonwealth to study at Imperial College London; one from Nigeria 🇳🇬 and one from Pakistan 🇵🇰.

The scholarship covers my tuition, living expenses and other essential costs, with additional support including allowances and grants for research and travel I will be doing around for my study.

I am deeply grateful to God for the grace, the opportunities, the people who believed in me, and for allowing my story to travel much further than I ever imagined.

I am grateful to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, UK in Nigeria, for making this opportunity possible.

For someone who grew up dreaming about London, this is more than an academic opportunity.

It is a full-circle moment. I am grateful to God.”
