Coronavirus: I don’t want to come back, China is safe for me

A Nigerian, Abdulraheem Inobemhe Musa, who is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in international law at the Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in Wuhan, China, has revealed how Nigerians have been coping in the city in the face of coronavirus.

In his interview with The Sun, Abdulraheem said he does not want to leave the city, adding that Wuhan is a very calm and peaceful place.

A native of Etsako West local government area in Edo state, the Nigerian also said that he never for once regretted choosing Wuhan as his place of study.

He said the loves the calmness of the city and his fear of the outbreak has decreased.

He, however, said that when the coronavirus broke out in Wuhan, he was very anxious, saying that the fear reduced with the preventive measures that came up. Abdulraheem said that the idea to leave the city never occurred to him, that all he just wanted to do was to see how he could help. When he was asked if he still felt the urgent need to leave the city going by cries by other Nigerians for evacuation, he said no. In advising the Nigerian government on what to do, he said that giving Nigerians a good welfare package will go a long way to calm raging nerves.

He also pointed out the need for a good information system between Nigerians in Wuhan and the federal government which will create a better understanding and appraisal of the situation on the ground.
