Former Governor Of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi Celebrates Man He Invested In Years Ago As He Bags PhD At The University of Edinburgh

Kayode Adeniyi tells former Gov Kayode Fayemi that his first encounter with a laptop was the one he received while in secondary school through his education intervention in Ekiti. Governor kayode Fayemi celebrates the young man as he bags PhD.

Sharing photos on Facebook, he wrote:

“One of the greatest privileges of public service is seeing young people whom we invested in years ago go on to fulfil their potential.

This morning, I received the wonderful news that Kayode Adeniyi has been awarded the prestigious Shawki Saad PhD Scholarship at Imperial College London. Awarded to just one candidate each year, it is an exceptional achievement.

When I recently had lunch with Kayode, he reminded me that his first encounter with a laptop was one he received while in secondary school through our education intervention in Ekiti.

Today, that early exposure has blossomed into a remarkable journey in artificial intelligence at one of the world’s leading universities.

I am equally delighted by the continued success of Dr Tosin Durodola, who also benefitted from those same investments in education as a student in Ekiti. Tosin recently completed his PhD at the University of Edinburgh on a fully funded scholarship, graduating without corrections, and has now taken up a postdoctoral Research Associate position at King’s College London.

His journey is another reminder of what can happen when talent is matched with opportunity.

For me, these achievements reaffirm a conviction I have always held. Investments in education rarely produce instant results, but when they are sustained and combined with the determination of young people, they yield dividends that endure for generations.

Congratulations, Kayode and Tosin. You have made your families, your schools, Ekiti State, and Nigeria proud. I look forward to celebrating many more milestones as you continue to distinguish yourselves on the global stage.
