Actor Brown Ifeanyi Igboegwu Shares Reasons People Leave Nigeria
Actor Brown Ifeanyi Igboegwu who’s based in Canada has shared the reasons many japa out of Nigeria.
In his words:
If Nigerian politicians had governed the country the way many Canadian politicians have worked to build and maintain public institutions, far fewer Nigerians would feel compelled to relocate to Canada or other countries.
People don’t leave their homes, families, and familiar environment just because they want to experience harsh winters or start life all over again.
Many leave because they are searching for better opportunities, safety, reliable infrastructure, quality healthcare, and a system that works.
In Canada, many of the things people struggle and pray for back home—good roads, security, electricity, emergency services, and functioning public systems—are often provided through public institutions.
While Canada has its own challenges and is far from perfect, many people value the stability and services available here.
Nigeria is blessed with talented, hardworking people and abundant natural resources. What many citizens continue to hope for is leadership that puts the country’s interests above personal gain. When leaders prioritize the welfare of the people, invest in development, and govern with integrity, fewer citizens will feel the need to seek a better life elsewhere.
Nigeria deserves better, and so do Nigerians.
