Couple Who Met 10 Years Ago Weds At The Hospital After The Husband Was Diagnosed With An Aggressive Spine Tumor

Aurelia and Milton were married at our hospital in a beautiful ceremony! The couple met 10 years ago at a farmers market in Oakland, after Aurelia came to the Bay Area to study brain tumors at UCSF.

They are avid travelers and had many adventures together over the years. In 2019, Milton was diagnosed with an aggressive spine tumor and went through surgery and numerous rounds of radiation and chemo. After a relapse in May led to another hospitalization and the discovery that Milton’s tumor had spread to his brain, the couple decided not to wait any longer to marry.

Our staff decorated Milton’s hospital room, and Aurelia was able to find a beautiful dress and shoes the day before the wedding. They were married in a joyful ceremony, as family and friends watched in person and from as far as South Africa and Japan over Zoom!
