Moving photos of Daniel Phiri, a Grade six pupil at Kabatwa Primary School in Lusaka, Zambia, went viral on social media leaving many asking how he could get help.

A good Samaritan named John Chanda Chimba got hold of Daniel’s family and spoke to his mother to understand why Daniel was not in school.

According to Daniel’s mum, Lilian Musoni, her young son had to sell brooms not only for his school fees but also for the family upkeep.

Chanda found out what was needed for Daniel to be in school and vowed to pay for everything that would allow the young boy to return to school, considering he was going to seat for crucial exams come 2021.

Chanda wrote on Facebook:

“Next year he will be in grade seven which is an exam class and needs to fully focus on school. Therefore, I have told the mother the following and this will be done effectively in January when he returns to school. I will pay his school fees for the whole year, buy him school shoes, uniform, a bag, exercise books and pay for his exam fees as he is going to be in an exam class.”

The good Samaritan also promised to buy all the brooms so that Daniel does not have to sell them and concentrate on his studies.
