Nigerian music star Davido has dismissed claims that he privately messaged a South African woman after screenshots of an alleged Instagram conversation surfaced online.

The woman, identified on social media as Lethabo, had reportedly posted screenshots purporting to show a conversation between her and the singer.

In the alleged exchange, the account attributed to Davido appeared to compliment Lethabo’s appearance while also asking about the origin of her name.

The message reportedly read: “Hey, you are such a pretty girl. Lethabo is a rare name. Where are you from?”

However, Davido has rejected the screenshots, describing them as fabricated. The singer also pointed out what he said was the correct appearance of his Instagram messaging interface, asking social media users to compare it with the screenshots being circulated.

Reacting angrily to the claim, Davido threatened legal action against the person responsible and urged her to stop spreading what he described as false information.

“Who’s this bastard! Better stop it before you get your dùmb ass sued! Stop fucking around.”

The singer further questioned why some adults had accepted the screenshots as genuine, insisting that the differences in the Instagram interface should make it clear that the alleged conversation was not authentic.

Davido also suggested that the person behind the post was only seeking attention online, adding that social media users had unnecessarily fallen for the claim.

The controversy has since generated reactions online, with some users examining the alleged screenshots while others echoed Davido’s explanation about the differences in the messaging interface.
