“You Stop Surviving And Start Living. You Stop Begging For Doors To Open And Start Choosing Which One To Walk Through.”- Nigerian Lady Shares How Living Abroad Can Change Your Life
Nigerian lady named The Ekeh’s on Facebook has taken time to outline how living abroad can change one’s life. She shared how a friend made a certain amount in few weeks that usually takes her 2 years while living in Nigeria.
Sharing on Facebook, she wrote:
“The other day, I randomly remembered how much I used to earn back home and I just burst out laughing. Not because it was funny, but because of how far life has brought us.
I had a quick conversation with a close friend, and she said something that hit home. She told me she made in just a few weeks abroad what it took her two whole years to earn back home. Two years compressed into weeks. That’s not magic. That’s what access and opportunity look like.
This is why when people talk about how it’s all the same everywhere I just smile and keep quiet. Because truthfully, it’s not.
The reality is this
Moving abroad can change your life in ways that words can barely capture.
You start seeing things differently.
You stop surviving and start living.
You stop begging for doors to open and start choosing which one to walk through.
Let’s be honest you can’t compare the experience of a 20-year-old abroad with a 20-year old back home.
The difference in exposure, access, and possibilities is too clear.
And the part that still humbles me every day?
You don’t need to know someone to get somewhere.
You can apply for jobs based on your merit, and you actually stand a fair chance.
No backdoor, no connections just your skills, your work ethic, and your willingness to show up.
That kind of environment? It’s a blessing.
One I’ll never take for granted.
So when I remember where I started, I don’t feel embarrassed I feel proud.
Proud of the journey.
Proud of the progress.
And hopeful for everything still ahead.”.
