Why Discipline Should Be Prioritised In Finances – Funke Akindele

Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shared a message on financial discipline with her followers, urging them to save, plan and reinvest in themselves and their work.

In a post shared on Instagram, Akindele reflected on her appearance at the FIN Tribe Finance Fair 2026, saying the event reminded her of a principle she also tries to practice.

“Discipline is key to success in your finances, your career and everything you do,” she wrote.

“Speaking at the FIN Tribe Finance Fair 2026 reminded me of something I also try to practise: you cannot spend everything you earn. As we say, you cannot eat with all ten fingers! You have to save, plan and reinvest in yourself and your work.”

Akindele noted that discipline is not always easy, advising her followers to start small by deciding, before they spend, what they are saving, what they are reinvesting, and what they can afford to spend.

“Being disciplined isn’t always easy. Start small: before you spend, decide what you’re saving, what you’re reinvesting and what you can afford to spend. Give your money a purpose, and keep practising that habit,” she added.

The actress also spoke candidly about her own journey with money management, admitting she doesn’t always get it right but keeps trying to be intentional.

“I’m speaking to myself too. I work hard, and I have to be intentional about managing what I earn. I don’t always get it right, but I keep making the effort,” she wrote.

She concluded by encouraging those who may have made poor financial decisions in the past, urging them to start making better choices today.

“Whatever you may have wasted in the past, you can start making better decisions today. It’s time to brace up. Save. Reinvest. Spend wisely. Love yourself enough to think about your future, even as you enjoy the present. This is a reminder for all of us!
