“When I First Started Dating Him, He Was Like, We Can’t Have S+x Before Marriage”— Sharon Faqua Opens Up On Her Courtship Journey With Husband, Actor Shawn Faqua

Actor Shawn Faqua’s wife, Sharon, has opened up about the early days of their relationship, revealing the doubts, fears and emotional baggage she carried before fully trusting him.

Speaking on the “At His Right Hand” podcast hosted by Olive Emodi, Sharon recalled how Shawn’s approach to their relationship initially made her suspicious.

She said: “When I first started dating him, he was like, we can’t have s+x before marry. I said no problem. And then he says, oh, you also can’t come to my house, because if you come to my house, we’ll be alone. I’m like, hey, I know say this guy dey hide something.”

Sharing another experience, she said: “I was supposed to come to Lagos for something and my flight was really late. I landed and the hotel I was supposed to stay in were fully booked. So I’m like, please let me just stay in your house and I will go to my hotel.”

According to Sharon, Shawn initially refused, saying: “No, that giving time, let him ask the spirit.” She added: “I told my friends that forget this thing, this guy is not honest. I know what I’m saying.”

She revealed that after Shawn later agreed following prayers, she still believed he had probably taken the girl he was hiding away. However, when she eventually stayed over, Shawn slept in the sitting room while she slept in the bedroom.

“That was just part of what I brought from the past, that was part of the baggages that I brought. His honesty was a problem for me,” she said.

Sharon also admitted: “I think the way he loved me was also too much for me.” She explained that although she never told Shawn she loved handwritten notes, “I love handwritten notes, right?… I never discussed it with Shawn. But every time that Shawn sends me a gift, he will do that thing.”
