“We Don’t Have Control Over Unbranded Palm Oil, Fufu Sold in Open Markets” – NAFDAC
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control says it does not have direct oversight over unbranded palm oil, fufu and other traditional foods sold in open markets.
NAFDAC DG, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye said this on Monday while addressing suspected counterfeit and adulterated products in Nigeria.
She revealed the agency received 225 complaints in August, and over 200 complaints monthly.
She urged Nigerians to report through NAFDAC’s official channels, not just social media. “Counterfeiters are not ghosts; they exist within our communities,” she said.
She added that NAFDAC mainly regulates processed and packaged products, while social media claims alone can’t prove a product is unsafe.
