US government recognises, celebrates Nigerian man Adeniyi Ayoola for feeding 60 families during lockdown (see photos)

A Nigerian, Adeniyi Philip Ayoola, has received an unexpected recognition from the United States government for feeding at least 60 families as the lockdown persists following COVID-19 pandemic.

Ayoola, through his organisation, IGAfrica, voluntarily carried out the gesture and also provided 200 face masks to some Nigerians to help reduce what is now known as community transmission.

The gesture was carried out in the Agege local government area of Lagos state at a time Nigerians continue to lament the hard economic realities brought on them by the spreading coronavirus.

Nigeria is rated a nation with most of its population in poverty. Since the lockdown started, many kind and well-meaning individuals have touched the lives of the poor in different ways.

In his reaction, Ayoola said thanked the US Mission in Nigeria for the recognition.

“My team and I are very grateful for the mention. It’s a very difficult time for our people.

“We will continue to do our best to support indigent members of our community to stay safe now and always,” he said.
