UN Judge Sentenced To 6 Years Imprisonment For Enslaving Housekeeper In UK

A UK court has sentenced United Nations judge Lydia Mugambe to six years and four months in prison after finding her guilty of enslaving a young woman.

The 50-year-old Ugandan judge, who also serves on Uganda’s High Court, was convicted under the UK’s Modern Slavery Act.

The court heard that while studying law at Oxford University, Mugambe explioted her position by forcing the victim to work as a maid and childcare provider without pay, while also preventing her from securing regular employment.
