“Too Many Public Officials Seem To Think That Public Office Is A ‘Chieftaincy Title’ To Pass To Their Kids”- Regina Askia Berates Politicians For Treating Elective Positions As If They Were Hereditary Family Titles

Regina Askia, the Nigerian-born American-based family nurse practitioner, has taken a hit at Nigerian public office holders, accusing them of treating elective positions as if they were hereditary family titles.

In a recent Instagram post, the former Nollywood actress reminded Nigerians that the country is meant to operate as a “democratic nation”.

She also raised concerns about the growing trend of public officials attempting to hand over political power to their children and relatives.

“I thought Nigeria was a democratic nation. Too many public officials seem to think that public office is a ‘chieftaincy title’ to pass to their kids. Na real wa,” she wrote.
